There are lots of things to consider when choosing your mini pet pig but it all starts with finding a reputable breeder of mini pigs!!

There are a lot of breeders out there saying they have the smallest "mini" pigs so it is very important to find a reputable one so you get what you are paying for. You don't want to purchase a piglet that is sold as a mini but ends up being 300 pounds.

We want to share what WE look for when we shop for our own personal pigs....

1.  Always- Ask a breeder the age of the parents. Pigs can breed very young. Most pigs are about two thirds their mature weight at 1.5 years old but may grow at slow rate till even 3 years of age. If the daddy weighs 20 pounds but is only 5 months old, you can bet he is going to be much bigger full grown. If the Daddy is 5 and weighs 50 pounds, then he isn't going to be any bigger.

2.  Never - Buy from a breeder that tells you they have breeding sow's that are a unrealistic size. Each time a sow has babies they will grow in weight.

3.  Always- Ask to see pictures of the parents if you are not able to physically go visit the parents . If the parents are small and look healthy, then you know they are a good choice.

4.  Never -Buy from a breeder that demands to meet you at Walmart/Kroger parking lot with piglet !! RUN !!

5.  Always- look for a piglet that appears to be healthy and active .

6.  Never- Buy a piglet that seems to be sick or under weight.

7.  Always- ask for references of either the breeder's vet or current piggie parent's

8.  Never- Pay for a piglet unless with a safe payment option, for example check, money order, or paypal.

9.  Always- buy from a breeder that gives a guarantee on piglets health.

10.  Never -Buy from a  breeder you do not click with.  You will have lots of questions, and will need support!
